KEEP THE DATE June 7th and 8th 2019

Patty Walson

Patty Walton is returning to Ireland to talk about her passion for fluency therapy for teenagers, adolescences and adults who stutter.

This is a rare chance to learn about how to support these client groups with therapy using a range of strategies instead of a single programme.

Workshop Aims

This workshop will address components of both diagnosis and treatment of stuttering for clients aged 13 through adults.

Workshop Content

  • Preliminary discussion will center around promoting a deeper understanding of the nature of the disorder to develop a strong foundation to expand your repertoire of strategies and techniques to enhance your clinical practice.
  • Aspects of diagnosis will focus on the development of a more subjective assessment portfolio which can augment formal measures and aid in more individualized treatment planning.
  • A wide variety of both fluency shaping and modification techniques will be presented, suggestions for integrating them successfully, and specific activities will be discussed in how to introduce, teach, and reinforce each strategy.
  • Counseling will be addressed with a focus on the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy  in stuttering therapy.
  • Case studies will be provided with videos of therapy.
